The President of the UN General Assembly, Vuk Jeremić, announced that he will initiate a debate on credit rating agencies in collaboration with the EU this autumn.
According to the B92 portal, these debates will discuss the impact of agencies on the global economic crisis.
“It will be an extremely interesting discussion where, alongside political leaders and representatives of the agencies, bankers, academics, and public figures will also speak,” Jeremić said in a statement to Tanjug.
Recently, accusations have been coming from the Union and other parts of the world that large credit rating agencies contribute to the global financial crisis and undermine the euro with their assessments of the creditworthiness of individual countries.
Jeremić plans to hold the discussion on this topic in the first half of September.
