‘Croatia Needs to Be a Leader in Development and Political Stability in the Region’

The Peace Forum organized by Rotary District 1913 has begun in Osijek. Politicians and business leaders from Croatia and neighboring countries have gathered.

The theme is peace at the borders of Croatia, which will soon become the borders of the European Union, and Croatia’s desire to be a leader in development, economic cooperation, and political stability in the region. President Ivo Josipović came to support the Rotarians.

Addressing those present, the Croatian president stated that peace, solidarity, and human rights are ideals that we may never fully achieve in the world. But we must work on this every day, said President Josipović. The message from the Forum is also the desire for Croatia to be a leader in development, economic cooperation, and political stability in the region.

The Peace Forum will have two panels – Economic Connectivity and Cooperation to Strengthen Competitiveness Towards Third Markets and Mediation and Mediation Processes as a Model for Conflict Resolution.

After his speech at the Peace Forum, the Croatian president went to a presentation of the Red Cross project in Osijek, which aims to encourage the public and state institutions to engage more in preventing human trafficking, one of the biggest problems in the world. President Josipović will conclude his visit to eastern Croatia in Valpovo.
