With Croatia’s accession to the EU, Great Britain gains a partner to address the economic crisis plaguing Europe, and the countries of the Western Balkans have an example to follow on their European path, stated British Minister for Europe David Lidington on Wednesday in London.
-There are many topics on which we will cooperate, especially in strengthening Europe’s global competitiveness and creating jobs for young people in Croatia and Great Britain- said Lidington at a reception on the occasion of Croatian President Ivo Josipović’s visit to Britain. “We in Great Britain pay great attention to the countries of the Western Balkans, and Croatia’s accession provides them with an example they should follow- added the British minister at the reception at the Foreign Office.
-Joining the Union is the beginning of a new path, perhaps even more difficult than negotiations, but a path that opens numerous benefits of membership for Croatian citizens- said Lidington. Josipović stated that his multi-day visit to Great Britain is a message to business people, scientists, tourists, and other Britons that the two countries are European and global partners.
