Parliament members gathered this morning after nearly a month in the parliamentary benches, but immediately at the beginning, a 15-minute break was called at the request of the HDZ due to an attack on volunteers of the initiative In the Name of the Family, which is collecting signatures for a referendum on the question ‘Do you support the inclusion of the definition of marriage as a life community of a man and a woman in the Constitution?’
The situation is alarming, said HDZ’s Željko Reiner, adding that such outbursts of hatred should not be tolerated. We expected the Prime Minister, the government, or the Ombudsman to address this issue and for Parliament to react to the emergence of violence, he said, requesting a break.
Before the Chairman of the Croatian Parliament, Josip Leko, called the break, he congratulated those elected in the local elections and asked the representatives not to use the parliamentary podium in discussions for local topics and particular interests. This is about common general interests of Croatia, and I ask you to take care of that. This is not a campaign, Leko told the representatives.
The representatives face 30 unresolved points, and in the meantime, the government has prepared another 40 proposals, including laws on foreigners, commercial companies, hydrocarbon exploitation, cooperation between the government and the Croatian Parliament, personal identification cards, and others.
Parliament will discuss amendments to the law on the control of dual-use goods, which will enable Croatian exporters to use the EU General Export License, allowing the export of certain goods to specific destinations without issuing individual export licenses.
Representatives will also consider amendments to the Trade Act, which will enable the direct application of the EU Common Trade Policy from July 1.
