Unions ‘ready for action’, complaint against Linić?

Unions of public and state services have announced the results of a referendum on their willingness to participate in further actions if the Government does not meet their demands.

According to RTL, at a press conference they also warned of a serious violation of the electoral silence by Finance Minister Slavko Linić. 53% of members participated in the referendum, of which 79.2% were in favor and 20.18% against, while invalid ballots accounted for 0.61%.

Branimir Mihalinec from the Independent Union of Secondary Schools took the opportunity to comment, stating that the unions wanted to hold a protest on the day of the electoral silence. The State Electoral Commission warned them that if the word Government is mentioned (whether praised or criticized), they could face a fine ranging from 3,000 to 500,000 kuna. Mihalinec then reported a serious violation of the electoral silence by Finance Minister Linić.

“He used the electoral silence for propaganda of possible future Government moves in order to attract voters to vote for the SDP,” said Mihalinec, adding that they expect a reaction from the State Electoral Commission and high fines for such a violation of electoral silence. Ljubica Pilić from the Croatian Union of Cultural Workers also commented, stating that Minister Linić sent them a message from the screen that they are in the service of the HDZ, or an extended arm of Karamarko. Her lawyer stated that this is a blatant example of the criminal offense of defamation and they will file a criminal complaint, as they believe that after all this, it is really too much.

They will inform about further steps of the unions and the dates of actions at one of the upcoming press conferences.
