Bandić and SDP each with 17 seats in the City Assembly

Of the 51 seats in the new composition of the Zagreb City Assembly, the list of Milan Bandić will have 17 representatives, the same as the coalition of the Social Democratic Party, and alongside them, there will be ten representatives from the HDZ list and seven from that of Vladimir Ferdelji.

Alongside Bandić, the list bearer and candidate for the mayor of Zagreb in the second round, the Assembly should also include Sandra Švaljek, Vesna Kusin, Jelena Pavičić Vukičević, Slavko Kojić, Ana Stavljenić-Rukavina, Sandra Perković, Mirna Šitum, Davor Štern, Vida Demarin, Sunčana Rupnik Blažeković, Marija Kalebota, Vlado Crkvenac, Dragica Nikolić, Katarina Tonković, Darko Katuša, and Ratko Maričić.

From the list of SDP, HNS, the Croatian Pensioners’ Party, the Green Party, the Croatian Green Party – Eko Savez – Greens and Greens Together, with bearer Davor Bernardić, the Assembly has elected Rajko Ostojić, Dragan Kovačević, Višnja Fortuna, Martina Jović, Zvane Brumnić, Sanja Ožić, Damir Godec, Ljubica Hrgović, Tomislav Stojak, Davorka Vukadin Samardžić, Saša Molan, Željko Kvesić, Tin Pažur, Silva Žele, Nenad Livun, and Grgo Jelinić.

The HDZ list, HSP Ante Starčević, the Block of Pensioners Together, the Zagorje Party, the Zagorje Democratic Party, and the Croatian Christian Democratic Party brings Andrija Mikulić, Margareta Mađerić, Ivan Ćelić, Ivica Kostović, Zoran Piličić, Ivan Tepeš, Marija Župan, Dražan Bilokapić, Ante Plazonić, and Milivoj Špiku into the Assembly.

In addition to Ferdelji from his list, which includes HSLS, HSS, the Green List, and the Democratic Party of Pensioners, the parliamentary seats were obtained by Darinko Kosor, Nenad Matić, Alen Ostojić, Ivan Obad, Vjekoslav Jeleč, and Miroslav Polovanec.

Among the elected lists, Bandić’s had the highest percentage of women among candidates – 52.9 percent, and from that list, the highest number of future representatives, eleven. The SDP candidate list had just over 47 percent women, and six of them will enter the Assembly.

Although Ferdelji’s list had about 43 percent female candidates, none of them are among the seven city representatives entering the Assembly. The lowest percentage, among the four elected lists, was from the HDZ list, at 23.53 percent, and only one woman from that list, Margareta Mađerić, will secure a seat in the Assembly.

The SDP list received 25.24 percent of the votes in the elections, Bandić’s 24.36 percent, HDZ’s 14.72 percent, and Ferdelji’s 11.14 percent.

With 4.82 percent, the Croatian Labourists – the Labour Party were close to entering the Assembly. The new composition will be without the former Vice President of the City Assembly, Tatjana Holjevac, who was the bearer of the Zagreb Independent List and received just over three percent of the votes, which is less than the lists For the City and Hrast – Movement for a Successful Croatia.

In the previous composition, from 2009 to these elections, the SDP was represented with 19 seats (37.26 percent), the HDZ had seven, HNS five, HSS four, HSU and the Zagreb Independent List three each, HSLS two, and there were also eight independent city representatives. Of the total number, 70.59 percent were men.
