Pilots and flight attendants of Croatia Airlines have entered the sixth day of a strike demanding the extension of all rights from the previous collective agreement.
The management does not agree to this and conditions the continuation of negotiations on the cessation of the strike. A new round of negotiations began last night and continued today.
‘It is not about negotiations, but about discussions. These meetings do not mean that the management has conceded on its terms. The management and the unions are trying to bring their positions and opinions closer together,’ said CA Public Relations Manager Ksenija Žlof. She noted that the management and the unions have been in talks since the beginning of the strike and that the losses due to the strike average from one to 1.5 million kuna per day, with a total loss of around 6.5 million kuna.
The situation is serious, but not dramatic, said the CEO of Croatia Airlines, Krešimir Kučko, during a guest appearance on HTV’s noon news. Employees of Croatia Airlines are doing everything possible to ensure that customers reach their destinations, he said, adding that bankruptcy is ‘not in sight’ at this moment. The only condition from the management is that the strike stops and negotiations begin. The management is offering the unions a new savings plan, and there is a very real possibility that an agreement could be reached as early as today, Kučko said.
Today, according to data on the Croatia Airlines website, 27 flights have been canceled, while 15 have been operated with leased aircraft from other airlines.
