As part of the announced plans regarding the opening of new branches in 2013, increasing the number of employees, and expanding the sales network, Plodine today opened its 73rd facility, measuring 3100 m2, in the city of Krk on the island of Krk.
This, along with the store in Malinska, also on the island of Krk, is the third Plodine facility on one of the Croatian islands, although there are plans for a long-term increase in the retail network of Plodine along the Croatian coast.
The opening of the supermarket in Krk is part of a long-term strategy aimed at expanding the sales network in Croatia and solidifying its position as the second-largest retailer with a market share of 20 percent. The opening of the sales location in Krk is an investment worth 7.5 million euros.
– The island of Krk is one of Croatia’s leading tourist destinations; by opening the third supermarket in Krk, we believe we will further contribute to the improvement of retail, as well as the overall tourist offer, and with a wide range of food and non-food products at favorable prices, we will maximally satisfy all the needs of both the island’s population and tourists during the tourist season – said board member Đozi Heberling.
By the end of 2013, Plodine will open supermarkets in Senj and Lovran and continue with further expansion. In 2014, the opening of 10 new supermarkets with an average area of 1800 m2 is planned, mainly in the Adriatic region.
