The Bank of Slovenia has revoked the license for providing payment services to Diners Club Slovenia, it was announced on Friday in Ljubljana.
As of Friday, when the decision was delivered, it must disable the ability to process transactions in Slovenia and abroad with those cards, announced the Bank of Slovenia. Media reports indicate that this concerns approximately 80,000 issued Diners cards.
Diners Club Slovenia is owned by Findale Enterprises, registered in the Virgin Islands. The company is controlled by influential Slovenian entrepreneur Tomaž Lovše, who was until recently the president of the Slovenian Ski Association and one of the founders of the American-Slovenian Chamber of Commerce. Lovše (45) lives in Monaco and is considered one of the wealthiest Slovenians.
The statement from the Bank of Slovenia does not specify the reasons for the license revocation. In recent weeks, media have reported on alleged difficulties Lovše faced in realizing some of his business plans. He is currently unavailable for comment on this decision.
