ZSE: Petrokemija among the most liquid

The indices of the Zagreb Stock Exchange are today influenced by negative movements on European exchanges, as there are no news from the domestic business sector to provide investors with new directions.

Around noon, the Crobex index was down 0.27 percent, at 1,916 points, while Crobex10 was down 0.16 percent, at 1,074 points. The regular turnover of shares reached 2.9 million kuna, which is approximately the same as on Friday at this time.

– There are no news that would trigger more active trading at least for the most liquid issues on the domestic market, so the Crobex indices mainly follow external movements. And on foreign exchanges today, there is a negative sentiment, except for the Tokyo Stock Exchange, where the Nikkei reached a new highest level in the last five and a half years, thanks to improved business prospects of Japanese companies and the weakening of the yen – says Ana Matić, financial analyst at Zagrebačka banka.

After stock prices on European exchanges reached their highest levels in the last five years, this morning the main indices weakened under the influence of profit-taking sales. Currently, the London Ftse, Paris CAC, and Frankfurt DAX are down between 0.24 and 0.64 percent.

On the domestic market, the highest turnover was achieved by HT shares, amounting to 908,000 kuna. Its price weakened by 0.2 percent, to 208 kuna. Following is the Petrokemija share, with a turnover of 455,000 kuna and a slight price increase of 0.35 percent, to 227.5 kuna.

Among the more liquid issues, a larger price drop is recorded by shares of Končar Distribution and Special Transformers, down 1.67 percent, and Leda, down 1.57 percent. Among the gainers, the shares of Atlantska plovidba stand out, with a price increase of 1.86 percent, and Valamara, 1.42 percent. For new directions, investors are waiting for new news from the domestic business sector and macroeconomic indicators.

– This week we are expecting data on issued building permits and turnover in domestic retail. Numerous indicators will also be published on foreign exchanges in the first half of the week – today we expect turnover in American retail for March, and tomorrow data on gross domestic product from Germany, France, Italy, and the European Union for the first quarter of this year – concludes Matić.
