The Dutch company Mars One, which aims to turn the ‘colonization’ program of Mars into a reality television show, has started collecting applications for astronaut candidates.
Candidates must introduce themselves through a video submission, and in just two weeks, more than 78,000 applicants from 120 countries have applied, including one from Croatia. No prior experience in space sciences, astronomy, or anything else is required to apply for the selection program for Mars colonist travelers, but applicants must be at least 18 years old.
The organizers remind that Mars does not offer the comforts that people are used to on Earth, as there is no liquid water, breathable air, the atmosphere does not protect against harmful radiation, and temperatures on the planet’s surface fluctuate greatly.
