New Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta has decided to cut his salary and that of his ministers.
Until now, they received a regular salary along with an allowance for performing ministerial duties, which Letta will now abolish. The salary for ministers will thus be reduced by 1700 euros, and by 2500 euros for him.
As comedian Beppe Grillo, and his Five Star Movement, received a huge number of votes from dissatisfied Italians in the elections, the new Italian Prime Minister aims to calm the anger and disappointment of voters with politicians through this move.
The money generated in this way will go to help those who have lost their jobs, Letta stated.
