Linić: The Owners of Konstruktora Are to Blame for the Problem

Finance Minister Slavko Linić stated today that the problem of the Split-based Konstruktora should have been resolved back in April of last year, and in his opinion, the owners of Konstruktora are to blame for the fact that it was not resolved.

Zagrebačka banka has made a tremendous effort in the last 60 days and has managed to find a solution for what had not been resolved throughout the entire last year.

– This is the reason why the settlement was reached, and better days could be ahead for Konstruktora – said Linić in response to journalists’ questions in Sveti Martin na Muri, where he is participating in a conference on the economy and entrepreneurship.

– It is sad, and we should always ask who is to blame for Konstruktora being the cause of delays in road construction projects, and that is its owners – emphasized Linić.

He added that it should also be asked how much effort has been wasted because what has now been agreed should have happened in April of last year.

In his assessment, this shows that there are irresponsible owners, especially directors who are to blame for everything.

Linić says that Croatian companies are showing interest in taking over part of the banks and the government.

When asked in what timeframe the state could divest its stake in Konstruktora, he replied that he believes it will happen within a month and that he cannot say in advance who will receive that stake.

Creditors of Split’s Konstruktora accepted a financial restructuring plan at yesterday’s hearing in the pre-bankruptcy settlement, which gives this construction company a chance for survival. The largest creditors are banks and the state, which, upon completion of the pre-bankruptcy settlement, should become the owners of Konstruktora.

Neither Linić nor Deputy Prime Minister Branko Grčić wanted to comment on today’s signing of the collective agreement at Ina.
