The Government Procures New Mobile Phones Worth 40 Million Kuna

The Government’s Public Relations Office has confirmed that on May 2, a public call was announced for the procurement of public voice, data, and mixed services, as well as supplementary and auxiliary services in mobile and electronic communication networks, along with GSM phones and SIM cards for the use of these services.

– The State Office for Central Public Procurement announced on May 2, 2013, the call and documentation for bidding in an open public procurement procedure for public voice, data, and mixed services, as well as supplementary and auxiliary services in mobile and electronic communication networks, together with devices (GSM phones and 3G/4G modems) and electronic cards (SIM cards) for the use of these services.
The call was published because the existing framework agreement expires on July 29, 2013, making it necessary to conduct a new unified public procurement procedure – states the announcement in which the Government responded to media reports about the procurement of mobile phones for officials in the Government and other state bodies.

The announcement emphasizes that the previous public procurement procedure was conducted in 2011, and that it was the first time it was conducted in a unified manner for multiple bodies, resulting in a 60 percent savings compared to previous mobile phone costs, as prior to that each institution procured equipment for itself.

– The newly announced public procurement includes significantly more bodies of state administration than two years ago, specifically 35, so additional savings are expected. The estimated value of this public procurement amounts to 40 million kuna, while the estimated value of procurement according to the framework agreement from 2011 was 47 million kuna – states the announcement.

It is added that this is a framework estimate and that the Government expects that the procured services will ultimately be significantly cheaper.
– Therefore, the Government, like other bodies of state administration, is very much mindful of costs, and this public procurement is a true confirmation of responsible behavior towards the resources of the state budget – stated the Government.
