The Assembly of the Croatian Olympic Committee held its 34th session on May 6, during which the Program and Financial Report of the HOO for 2012 was unanimously adopted.
Croatian athletes won 307 medals at major international competitions in 2012, including six Olympic medals and 33 world golds.
Development programs of the HOO were utilized by 444 athletes, and the work of 79 coaches was co-financed. The total funds of the HOO in 2012 amounted to 139,460,152 kuna, consisting of revenues from games of chance (109,123,226 kuna), regular revenues from the state budget (5,850,712 kuna), marketing revenues (11,457,410 kuna), and Olympic solidarity (4,878,608 kuna), other revenues (130,237 kuna), and surplus revenues from 2011 (8,019,959 kuna). Expenses for the same period amounted to 138,974,536 kuna, of which 57,327,061 kuna (41.25 percent) was allocated to regular programs of national sports federations, and 40,317,684 kuna (29.01 percent) to special program projects, which include development programs for athletes and coaches, health care for athletes, multi-sport events, and Olympic projects.
The HOO recorded a revenue shortfall of 7,534,343 kuna in 2012, which will be covered from the transferred surplus revenue of 16,494,428 kuna from previous years. After covering unpaid obligations and engaged funds, the remaining 5,116,359 kuna will be used to finance additionally approved programs from 2012 and program activities in 2013. The Program and Financial Report is submitted to the Ministry of Science, Education and Sports and the Croatian Parliament.
