At Rijeka Airport, layoffs are being prepared for about 50 percent of the workers, RTL has learned.
According to RTL, the layoffs will begin in early August, and as many as 37 workers will receive termination notices.
Twelve of them will be sent into early retirement, but reportedly with severance pay of 50,000 kuna, rather than the 150,000 kuna guaranteed by the collective agreement. Twenty-five of them are considered surplus. External companies, reportedly cheaper, will take their places. A meeting between the union and the leaders of Rijeka Airport is expected to be held today. In the first four months of 2013, traffic increased by 56 percent.
