By midnight, the State Election Commission (DIP) received, according to this morning’s data, 3100 candidate lists for councils and assemblies and 2180 candidacies for mayors, city mayors, county heads, and deputies from minority groups who will be elected in the local elections on May 19.
These data are not definitive as it is still unknown whether all commissions have entered all data about the candidacies submitted on time into the computer, said Vlado Mikulec from the Agency for Support of Information Systems and Information Technologies (Apis) to Hina this morning.
For city and municipal councils and county and Zagreb assemblies, 3100 candidate lists have been submitted, while for municipal mayors, city mayors, and county heads, as well as deputies from national minorities or representatives of the Croatian people, 2180 candidacies have been submitted, Mikulec stated.
For Zagreb, 24 candidate lists for the City Assembly and eight candidacies for mayor have been submitted.
The commissions have a deadline of 48 hours from the conclusion of submissions, that is, until May 4 at midnight, to verify and accept the candidate lists and candidacies. DIP will publish valid lists on its website. The election campaign for the local elections will officially last from May 5 to May 17. DIP urges voters to check in time whether they are registered in the voter list.
