Feminists Go Topless Against Berlusconi

Three feminists with bare breasts confronted Silvio Berlusconi as he was about to enter his polling station in Milan to participate in the general elections in Italy, where he is also a candidate.

The protesting women, from the Ukrainian women’s rights group Femen, shouted ‘Basta Berlusconi’ and were immediately detained, allowing Berlusconi to proceed to vote in front of a group of journalists and cameramen. The same words were written on their backs. Arriving from behind the barrier for journalists and cameramen, the protesters rushed through and jumped over the fence aiming for the former prime minister, whom they ultimately failed to reach.

The somewhat chaotic scene, with the shouts of the protesters and surprised voters, along with the cries of frightened children, ended shortly with the arrest of the protesters. Berlusconi (76), who is seeking his fifth term in government in the elections, is on trial for sexual relations with a minor prostitute during the so-called ‘bunga bunga’ orgies at his villa in Milan, which he denies.
