Value of Purchase and Sale in Agriculture Decreased by 8.6 Percent

The value of purchases and sales of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products in the fourth quarter of last year amounted to 2.6 billion kuna, which is 8.6 percent less than in the same period in 2011, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.

At the same time, the value of sales from the own production of business entities reached 1.6 billion kuna and fell by 10.8 percent, while the value of purchases from family farms amounted to 988.4 million kuna, a decrease of 4.9 percent.

In the structure of the value of purchases and sales of agricultural, forestry, and fishery products in the fourth quarter of last year, cereals accounted for 15.7 percent. The value of purchases and sales of cereals amounts to 406.2 million kuna.

This is followed by rough processed wood with a share of 13.7 percent, or a value of purchases and sales amounting to 354.6 million kuna, and live pigs, which with an amount of 305 million kuna have a share of 11.8 percent in total sales. The value of sales and purchases of raw cow’s milk in the last quarter of last year amounted to 298.8 million kuna, which is a share of 11.6 percent.

By share in total sales and purchases of agricultural products, oilseeds follow with a share of 8.9 percent, live cattle 6.9 percent, sugar beets and sugar beet seeds 5.6 percent, other fruits, nuts, and similar stone fruits 4.6 percent, live poultry 4.1 percent, wine 4.1 percent, unprocessed tobacco 3.1 percent, chicken eggs 3 percent, fresh or chilled fish 2.3 percent, other vegetables, fresh, melons, and watermelons 1.6 percent, and other products 3 percent.

According to DZS data, the average producer price (the price that includes taxes, excluding VAT, and excluding subsidies) of soft wheat, winter – commercial wheat in the fourth quarter of last year was 1,513.85 kuna per ton, and corn (commercial) 1,687.04 kuna per ton. The average producer price of raw cow’s milk in the last quarter of last year was 2.50 kuna per liter.
