In a recent friendly discussion about the state of the contemporary music scene, the interlocutors complained to the undersigned that they had not listened to an album from start to finish in a long time, and that there is meaning and beauty in every part of it.
Although there is currently quite a drought in heavier and richer rock, indie continues to flourish. The latest album to listen to in its entirety is the sixth studio album of the Manchester trio known as I am Kloot. This is a musical group that has almost cult status; however, to this day they have not managed to break into global stardom. Judging by their music, this suits them just fine. Namely, the new songs, ten in total, are as fresh, melodic, and lyrically rich as any of their works in the last 14 years since they have been on the scene. I am Kloot can boast primarily of the poetic value of each verse, but also of the completely innovative arrangement of each song – from ‘Bullets’, probably the best song on the album ‘Mouth on me’, to the closing ‘Forgive me these reminders’. The sober voice of singer John Bramwell delights in every combination, making the album sound as if each song is a new discovery. For investigators of refined taste.
