The retail chain Konzum, part of the Agrokor group, ended the past year with a profit of 204.6 million kuna, which is significantly lower compared to the profit of 345.2 million kuna from the previous year, according to data from Konzum’s unaudited report for 2012, published today on the Zagreb Stock Exchange.
Konzum’s total revenue last year amounted to 14.9 billion kuna, which is 1.2 percent higher compared to the revenue from 2011, while the sales revenue was achieved at the level of 12.15 billion kuna.
Konzum’s total revenues last year increased by 1 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 13.5 billion kuna, alongside a simultaneous increase in total expenses by 2.5 percent, to 13.2 billion kuna.
In assessing the conditions under which business will operate this year, Konzum’s report states that it is realistic to expect that consumption will continue to stagnate, and citizens’ optimism will decline.
As the food sector shows greater stability in consumption than non-food in crisis conditions, Konzum has adjusted the structure of its product range to demand and maintained its levels of revenue and income, the report states.
It adds that Konzum’s business last year was positively influenced by trends in tourism, as a traditional potential for retail, considering that this retail chain opens a large number of additional seasonal stores along the coast and on the islands during the summer.
