The Croatian Association of Trade Unions today refuted claims in some media that a consensus had been reached among social partners regarding amendments to the Labor Law (ZOR), as HUS did not accept these amendments, deeming them cosmetic, inappropriate, and unnecessary.
HUS believes that working on the proposed amendments to the ZOR in the current situation in the country is the last thing that unions, employers, and the Government should be burdened with, especially referring to the Minister of Labor and Pension System, Miranda Mrsić, ‘whose work mainly consists of counting the unemployed.’
HUS emphasizes in a statement that it refused to participate in discussions about the amendments to the ZOR, as it highlighted the need to abolish unknown and unilateral Work Regulations that are not present in European practice, and to sign a General Collective Agreement that would guarantee all employees the respect of minimum rights from employment relations.
– We are not surprised by the behavior of the Government, but by some of our colleagues who have easily given up on this first-class union interest – they say.
HUS did not agree to the amendments to the ZOR and calls on social partners to insist on tax relief for citizens and the economy by pressuring the Government, along with the imperative of taxing financial institutions and transactions, the statement says.
