The Slovenian People’s Party will leave the coalition government and move into opposition, stated its president Radovan Žerjav.
Alongside Žerjav, who is the Minister of Economy, the party will also withdraw Minister of Agriculture Franc Bogovič from the government in two weeks.
After the anti-corruption commission found a discrepancy between the assets and income of Janez Janša, ministers from the Civic List, Gregor Virant, have already left the government, and the same move was announced for the end of the month by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Karl Erjavec, who leads the Democratic Party of Pensioners.
The collapse of Janša’s government could jeopardize the ratification of the Croatian Accession Treaty in the Slovenian parliament, without which our country cannot become a full member of the European Union on July 1.
