The Croatian industry recorded a decline in sales on a monthly and annual basis in December of last year, as well as a decline in new orders. According to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics, the total seasonally adjusted industrial sales in December of last year fell by 12.7 percent compared to November.
This was influenced by a decline in sales in foreign markets by 13.6 percent and in the domestic market by 6.4 percent. On an annual basis, calendar-adjusted data show a decline in industrial sales of 16.4 percent, with a recorded decline in the domestic market of 13.5 percent and in the foreign market of 17.6 percent.
Cumulative data for 2012 compared to 2011 show that the total sales of the Croatian industry fell by 1.3 percent. According to major industrial groupings, in December of last year compared to December 2011, total sales of durable consumer goods decreased by 36.8 percent, capital goods by 31 percent, energy by 19.1 percent, intermediate goods by 9.1 percent, and non-durable consumer goods by 6.1 percent.
According to DZS data, the manufacturing industry operating on the basis of orders recorded a decline in orders of 12 percent in December compared to November, with orders from the domestic market reduced by 1.7 percent and orders from foreign markets by 15.4 percent.
Compared to December 2011, orders fell by 7.7 percent, influenced by a decline in orders from foreign markets by 17.3 percent. Orders from the domestic market simultaneously increased by 5.1 percent.
In total, in 2012, orders increased by 13.2 percent compared to 2011.
