One of the most important and influential American alternative rock bands, Dinosaur Jr., is returning to Zagreb after three years.
They will present their tenth studio album, ‘I Bet on Sky’.
The band was formed in 1984 when schoolmates J. Mascis and Lou Barlow teamed up with drummer Murph and began playing under the name Dinosaur. However, as they gained popularity, former members of the bands Jefferson Airplane and The Grateful Dead, who were performing under the name The Dinosaur, legally forced them to change their name. Thus, Dinosaur Jr. was born.
With a characteristic style based on distorted guitar sound with plenty of feedback, yet with a fine sense of melody, they influenced many later giants of American underground music, especially the grunge scene that formed in Seattle in the late 1980s. After seven albums and many lineup changes, the band disbanded in 1997, only to reunite in 2005, much to the surprise of fans, in the original lineup that had split in 1988, which the trio still performs in today.
