In last week’s Lider Fight Club, the majority of participants (62 percent) agreed with the thesis that fixed-term contracts benefit only employers, a view supported by the president of the Independent Trade Unions of Croatia, Mladen Novosel.
-Although this is currently just a working document in which the Government proposes changes to the existing Fixed-term Employment Contract, it is clear that the changes will not benefit workers – said Novosel, reflecting on the announced changes to the Labor Law.
The rest of the readers agreed with the CEO of Tau online, Igor Žonja, who believes that excessive protection can have negative consequences for all parties, as well as for society as a whole.
-Excessively protected workers do not work enough on developing their competencies, perform their tasks poorly, and after many years of such practice are no longer capable of participating in the labor market. The current employer does not want them and they have little chance of finding new ones. – said Žonja.
