Zagreb Residents Sample Young Olive Oil

The Day of Young Olive Oil at the Kaptol center in Zagreb gathered numerous enthusiasts of oil with an intense taste and aroma.

During the event Day of Young Olive Oil, held on February 2 at the Kaptol center, Zagreb residents had the opportunity for the first time in one place to taste young olive oil from renowned Croatian producers. This oil, with its intense taste and aroma, is becoming increasingly valued in our country, as confirmed by the many visitors who attended the Kaptol center that day. Throughout the day, young olive oil was tasted and smelled on all floors of the Kaptol Center.

Visitors could choose from a fine selection of Istrian brands: Balija, Buršić, Oleum Vitae, Zigante, Oleatica, San Gurmano, Sopela, Cossetto, Vodnjanski torčol, Ipša, Belić…, as well as Dalmatian brands: Brachia, Buddy, Olivando, Sv.Ivan, Lintar, PO Kamenice, OPG Vojković… and brands from the company Zvijezda: Ol Istria and Ol Dalmatia, which encompasses all our regions characteristic for olive cultivation.

On that day, olive oil enthusiasts throughout the Kaptol center were satisfied as all restaurants offered a variety of olive oils for tasting, and entry to the Olive Oil Gallery was free. This gallery, the only one of its kind in Croatia, aims to popularize the value and quality of olive oil, and visitors were intrigued by exhibits of various items used in olive growing and oil production.

The Day of Young Olive Oil is part of a national project promoting Croatian olive oils, which has been held for the third year under the name Croatia, the Land of Olive Oil.

This year, the organizers decided to expand the project to the hospitality segment and on Saturday presented the first Olive Oil Friend Restaurants, meaning those restaurants that stand out for their special care in the treatment of olive oil in the kitchen and on the table. The first nine restaurants to receive this prestigious title are: Vinodol, Baltazar, and Atlanta bocca Marai from Zagreb, Kapetanova kuća from Ston, Bevanda from Opatija, Le Mandrać from Volosko, Zigante from Livade, and Zrno Soli and No Stress from Split.
