Gazprom’s intention to lease the entire capacity of the South Stream branch that will pass through Croatia may encounter obstacles as the European Commission’s rules do not allow monopolies, meaning pipelines must be accessible to all suppliers.
Although Gazprom explains that guaranteeing the use of the pipeline’s full capacity for a certain period is standard business practice, experts warn that in this case, Croatia faces draconian fines.
