Osijek Mayor Krešimir Bubalo (HDSSB) confirmed today that the city administration is ready to co-finance the initiative of the city company Water Supply to reward citizens who pay their bills on time with flags of the Republic of Croatia.
During today’s public discussion on the proposed property tax law, Bubalo responded to journalists’ inquiries by stating that he supports the Water Supply initiative as he believes that the most punctual payers should be rewarded and considers this a good way to do so.
Reminding that Croatia is entering the European Union, Bubalo said that he believes we will have to protect our identity after July 1, just as the Germans and the French have done.
Today’s Novi list reported, following the Water Supply tender for the procurement of 30,000 state flags, that Water Supply has decided to reward timely payers in this way and that the City has decided to co-finance it.
“I want every household, especially those who fulfill their obligations to our utility company on time, to receive a flag, which the city is also ready to co-finance as a modest gift of gratitude,” Bubalo told reporters today. He added that if all citizens paid their obligations on time, the revenues would exceed the projected expenses for this project.
In response to a journalist’s inquiry about the costs of this initiative, given that Novi list mentions an amount of 600,000 kuna excluding VAT, Bubalo stated that he expects a lower price to be achieved in the public tender.
