‘Something Must Change in the Operations of HBOR’

During the presentation of the Entrepreneurial Impulse, the possibility of the dismissal of HBOR President Anton Kovačev emerged again as a separate topic.

Minister Gordan Maras stated that no minister appoints or dismisses the management of public companies, but that this is done by the Government. However, he reiterated that he has certain reservations regarding the operations of HBOR and that something must change in the way that bank operates. Maras expressed his criticisms of HBOR through the example of the Norwegian company CroNoMar, based in Šibenik, which sought a loan from HBOR to finance the construction of ships at the Šibenik shipyard.

Although this company has already received ten catamarans and has contracted the construction of six new ships, HBOR rejected the loan request and advised CroNoMar to find another shipyard. According to Maras, this example indicates a misunderstanding with investors, which needs to be minimized.
