The indictment council of the County Court has confirmed the USKOK indictment against the Mayor of Crikvenica, Damir Rukavina.
He is accused of having unlawfully exploited his position as mayor for private gain shortly after he became mayor in 2009. Rukavina allegedly secured contracts worth 700,000 kuna for the company Sando, of which he was the founder and owner before taking office as mayor, through illegal means.
The Mayor of Crikvenica has completely rejected the allegations during the investigation and presented his counterarguments, claiming that he did not act illegally. He also emphasized that he is no longer either the actual or formal owner of the company Sando and has no connection to it, nor any reason to favor it, and that he acted solely in the interest of the City.
