Prime Minister Zoran Milanović, who will participate in the summit of the European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (EU-CELAC) in Santiago, spoke on Friday with the host, Chilean President Sebastián Piñera.
The meeting took place without media statements, and afterwards, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two governments.
The Croatian delegation led by the Prime Minister also visited the Croatian community club Estadio Croata in Santiago, where Milanović conveyed to those gathered that the summit is an important reason for his stay in Chile, but that the numerous Croatian community is equally important motivation. He noted that Croatia will soon become the 28th member of the European Union, not as a ‘small statistical error, but as a factor that knows what it wants.’
Speaking about the future he envisions for Croatia, he emphasized that he wants it to be ‘one of the best countries for business in Europe in a few years. That anyone who comes to Croatia with their money knows that this money is safe and that the chances of increasing it are real.’ Foreign and European Affairs Minister Vesna Pusić, who is also in Santiago, stated that the Croatian community in Chile offers ‘what the best from Croatia can bring in creativity, science, and entrepreneurship.’
