The comedy ‘The Priest’s Children’ has been viewed by over 108 thousand spectators in just 18 days, making it the fourth Croatian film to surpass the magical number of one hundred thousand.
According to these figures, ‘The Priest’s Children’ currently ranks third among the most-watched Croatian feature films since independence, and of the five most-watched Croatian cinema films, director Vinko Brešan is credited with four.
The film about a priest who arrives on a small Croatian island and, in an effort to increase the birth rate, starts to puncture condoms in collaboration with a local kiosk vendor and a pharmacist, officially premiered three weeks ago, specifically on January 3rd. Already in its first weekend, it broke the first record – with 33,759 viewers, it became the domestic film with the best cinema opening since Croatia’s independence.
Alongside ‘The Priest’s Children’, the most-watched domestic feature films since independence are ‘How the War Started on My Island’, also directed by Vinko Brešan (over 340 thousand viewers), and ‘What is a Man Without a Mustache’ by director Hrvoje Hribar (over 150 thousand viewers).
