New (Higher) Fuel Prices

Retail prices of motor gasoline will increase by 12 to 14 lipa per liter from midnight, while the prices of euro diesel, blue diesel, and gas oil will rise by 11 to 15 lipa per liter, according to data from the Ministry of Economy, which today published the highest levels of retail prices of petroleum products for the period from January 22 to February 4.

During this period, the highest price of eurosuper BS 95 will be 10.38 kuna per liter, which is 12 lipa higher than the previous 10.26 kuna.

Eurosuper BS 98 will increase by 13 lipa per liter, while eurosuper BS 100 will rise by 14 lipa. Thus, starting tomorrow, the highest price of eurosuper BS 98 will be 10.71 kuna (previously 10.58 kuna), and the highest price of eurosuper BS 100 has been set by the Ministry at 10.93 kuna (previously 10.79 kuna).

Euro diesel BS can be sold at a maximum price of 9.80 kuna starting tomorrow, which is 11 lipa higher than the previous 9.69 kuna.

Blue diesel, or gas oil colored blue with the euro label, will also increase by 11 lipa per liter, with a new maximum price of 6.30 kuna (previously 6.19 kuna), while blue diesel without the euro label will rise by 14 lipa to 6.24 kuna (previously 6.10 kuna).

Heating oil, or gas oil with the euro label, will increase by 15 lipa per liter and cost 7.00 kuna (previously 6.85 kuna).

The Ministry today announced the highest prices of derivatives in accordance with the new Regulation on determining the highest retail prices of petroleum products, which has been in effect since the beginning of this year.

The new Regulation partially changes the provision on the maximum allowed price change – until now, prices could be adjusted by a maximum of 3 percent in case of increase or decrease, while under the new rules, in the case of price increases, this upper limit of 3 percent remains, but the threshold for price reductions is increased, allowing prices to fall by a maximum of 6 percent compared to the current highest price.

According to the new Regulation, the change in prices of petroleum derivatives primarily depends on the movement of petroleum derivative prices in the Mediterranean market and the exchange rate of the US dollar. Also, as before, the Ministry of Economy will calculate and publish the highest retail prices of petroleum derivatives every 14 days, and oil companies can change prices during this period, but they must not exceed the maximum prices published by the Ministry.
