Pazin’s mayor Renato Krulčić (IDS) stated yesterday that ‘Pazin is and will remain the administrative headquarters of Istria County’ and thus commented on the announcement by IDS member of parliament Valter Boljunčić, who proposed in the Parliament that the City of Pula be the administrative headquarters of Istria County.
‘Although I respect everyone’s opinion, I stand even more firmly behind mine, which is that the interests of Pazin and its residents will always be the most important to me. I will do everything in my power to maintain Pazin’s status as the headquarters of our county,’ said Krulčić. He emphasized that losing that status, along with the recent event – the bankruptcy of ‘Purisa’, represents an additional blow not only to the city’s budget but also to the economy of central Istria.
Pula’s mayor Boris Miletić expressed satisfaction with Valter Boljunčić’s announcement, as it would, he said, ‘correct the historical injustice done to Pula’, but he noted that it is merely a symbolic act. Miletić does not want anything taken away from Pazin, ‘let it continue to be the seat of the county assembly and other institutions as it is today’. He stated that his initiative for Pula as the county seat in 2009 was not accepted.
‘I hope that the current coalition government will recognize and respect the opinion of our citizens because Pula deserves it according to all economic indicators,’ concluded Miletić. Boris Miletić is the vice president of IDS, and Renato Krulčić is a member of the party’s Presidency.
