The first Rijeka start-up incubator, where young entrepreneurs will be able to realize their business ideas starting from February this year, was presented today at a press conference in the Rijeka city administration.
The Rijeka start-up incubator, which will operate in the center of Rijeka, on Ružićeva Street, was presented by Rijeka Mayor Vojko Obersnel, Director of the Regional Development Agency ‘Porin’ Robert Komen, and future IT mentor in the start-up incubator Hrvoje Hudoletnjak.
The main goal of the start-up incubator is to create a supportive environment for self-employment among young people by realizing their own business ideas. The users will be around 40 young people under the age of 29 and students, or their teams, who have knowledge and ideas, for example, in the fields of information technology, computer applications, and industrial design.
Start-up projects already exist abroad as a new form of entrepreneurial infrastructure, but unlike other incubators, users of this program do not have to be economic entities. Primarily, individuals are supported in designing and establishing business models that offer innovative solutions to problems without the condition of opening their own company and with the help of mentors, it was stated at the conference. In the Rijeka start-up incubator, services for users will be completely free for the first six months.
A public call for applications for users and mentors in the start-up incubator has been announced by the Rijeka city administration, which has secured more than 400,000 kuna from the budget for the launch of this project.
The project is led by the Department of Entrepreneurship of the city administration, and the partner is the Regional Development Agency ‘Porin’.
