The Battle for Seasonal Jobs Has Begun

This year, the tourist campaign, as well as the season, starts earlier than usual, and so does the search for seasonal jobs. Have citizens already begun their search for work to do during the warmer months? This was investigated by the MojPosao portal in a survey conducted with over 400 respondents.

Almost half of the respondents (46 percent) are already applying for seasonal job advertisements. As one respondent states, ‘the best seasonal jobs are advertised right now,’ while another emphasizes that he has already ‘reserved’ his job: I have already arranged everything and am just waiting for the departure date, which is at the end of April.

Respondents are most interested in jobs as lifeguards, waiters, work on boats, or in agriculture, and there are also those for whom the search for a seasonal job is just one segment of the overall job search.
– Any job in a camp or on the beach is welcome, since I am a lifeguard, but I also accept all other types of seasonal jobs, concludes one of the respondents.

Seasonal jobs do not interest 21 percent of respondents, mainly because they are looking for jobs in their profession or those that will last throughout the year.

Sixteen percent of respondents believe that there is time to search for seasonal work. Some of them are currently just monitoring advertisements or inquiring verbally about potential jobs, but they are not yet applying for the ads. Others intend to actively approach the search for seasonal work only if they do not find a job that they can do for a longer period.

– Year after year, we notice an increasing number of employers participating in our ‘Jobs in Tourism’ initiative, aimed at increasing mobility in the labor market. The results of the research are expected since the internet as a recruitment channel has become the primary place for supply and demand, even for seasonal jobs, commented Marko Oltean, the sales and client relations manager of the MojPosao portal.
