Retail trade in Croatia in November last year was nominally down by 11.4 percent compared to October, and real terms down by 11.3 percent, while on an annual basis, compared to November 2011, it nominally fell by 1.9 percent and real terms by 5.7 percent, reported DZS.
The monthly decline was influenced by reductions in almost all retail sectors, with the sale of motor fuels and lubricants in November compared to October down by 12.5 percent, alcohol and other beverages down by 16.3 percent, and sales in non-specialized stores predominantly selling food down by 9.3 percent.
In November, compared to the previous month, there was only a slight increase in the sales of parts and accessories for motor vehicles, motorcycles, and parts, by 0.4 percent. On an annual basis, however, in November last year compared to the same month in 2011, statistics recorded a nominal decline in sales in nine retail sectors.
The largest percentage decline was recorded in the retail of motor vehicles, down by 40.4 percent, while sales of alcoholic and other beverages fell significantly by 11.7 percent, textiles and clothing by 11.2 percent, furniture by 9.1 percent, etc. Retail growth was recorded on an annual basis in eight retail sectors – in non-specialized stores predominantly selling food, which have a share of 37.2 percent in total retail, sales nominally increased by 3.9 percent, and in tobacco products by 3.7 percent, etc.
