Today, meetings of two committees for the preparation of amendments and supplements to the operational programs for the development of cattle and pig production in Croatia for the period from 2014 to 2020 were held at the Ministry of Agriculture.
Assistant Minister of Agriculture Vesna Gantner emphasized that the goals of both programs are to increase the competitiveness of the cattle and pig production sectors, increase production, develop semi-extensive production systems and production systems for special purposes, as well as the development and improvement of the production of Croatian indigenous breeds.
The measures to be included consist of investments in new production capacities (a minimum of 200 million euros annually with 50 percent EU participation), short-term measures for the restructuring of the sector, optimization of land resources, education, and raising levels of capabilities and skills (training center).
– The program will be the basis for the development of both sectors through the Rural Development Program, in which we will have 333 million euros available annually from 2014 – emphasized Gantner.
