Unusual Move by McDonald’s in Australia

If you are looking for McDonald’s in Australia this month, you might find yourself at Macca’s.

The international fast-food chain will temporarily change the sign at some of its restaurants in Australia to Macca’s, as Australians affectionately call it. This will mark Australia Day on January 26. The company has never done anything like this before.

‘We are incredibly proud to carry our Australian name,’ said Mark Lollback, Chief Marketing Officer of McDonald’s Australia, in a statement.
– How better to show Australia that we are proud to be part of Australian society than by changing the sign and calling ourselves what the community here calls us – he added.
Research has shown that at least fifty percent of Australians use that nickname.
