The President of the Vukovar City Council, Tomislav Džanak (HSP dr. Ante Starčevića), has resigned from this position due to ‘political trading’ which, in his opinion, became evident during the adoption of this year’s budget for the city of Vukovar.
In a statement regarding his resignation, Tomislav Džanak reminds that the budget for the city of Vukovar for 2013 was adopted after it was supported by the councilors of the SDP and SDSS at the session of the City Council on the proposal of Mayor Željko Sabo (SDP). Džanak emphasizes that he expects the majority of the SDP and SDSS in the City Council to publicly announce their cooperation and that they will accordingly choose a person to lead this high body until new elections. He assesses that the Vukovar city budget for 2013 was made ‘for the benefit of the Serbian minority, at the expense of the Croatian majority’.
– A similar coalition currently governs the state, and the statements of the Minister of Administration Arsen Bauk and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia Zoran Milanović confirm that they are tone-deaf and that they want to introduce bilingualism in the hero city of Vukovar at all costs – emphasizes Džanak and states that his duty in the HSP dr. Ante Starčevića obliges him ‘not to participate in something like that’.
