Silvio Berlusconi on Monday withdrew his candidacy for Prime Minister in the elections scheduled for February.
He did this to enter into an alliance with the Northern League, which does not want to see him at the head of the government, RTL reports.
Berlusconi decided to enter this alliance to increase the chances of the center-right to make it difficult for the next, presumably leftist government to pass laws with enough seats in the Senate.
He stated that he is inclined to take the position of Minister of Economy.
