Dubrovnik achieved record tourist results last year – there were 697.6 thousand tourist arrivals, which is 10 percent more than in 2011, and 2.6 million overnight stays, an increase of 12 percent, reported today from the Dubrovnik Tourist Board.
The majority of tourist arrivals in Dubrovnik last year were foreign tourists, numbering 649.7 thousand, while domestic tourists numbered just under 48 thousand.
Of the total number of tourists last year, more than 527 thousand stayed in 45 Dubrovnik hotels, which is a 9 percent increase in the number of tourists in hotel accommodation compared to 2011. In hotel accommodation in 2012, there were 1.8 million overnight stays, which is an increase of 10 percent.
In private accommodation, 90.9 thousand guests stayed last year, achieving 423.3 thousand overnight stays, which represents a 31 percent increase in the number of guests and a 33 percent increase in overnight stays compared to 2011.
Last year, the largest number of guests in Dubrovnik came from the United Kingdom, with an increase of as much as 39 percent compared to the previous year, followed by tourists from France (an increase of 7 percent), Germany (an increase of 17 percent), then domestic tourists, guests from Russia (5 percent more), the USA (where there was an increase of 22 percent), Spain, and Sweden (where there was an increase of as much as 48 percent), etc.
