The hacker-activist group Anonymous posted a message on the government websites last night: ‘You have stolen enough.’
The hacktivists have not yet disclosed the reason for the intrusion on the government sites, and according to Tportal’s reports, ‘Cross-site scripting’ (XSS) was used for the attack.
It is possible that this is retaliation for the enactment of the new Criminal Code, which, among other things, prescribes a penalty of up to three years in prison for unauthorized access to computer systems or data, as well as for disrupting the operation of computer systems, damaging data, unauthorized interception of computer data, computer forgery, and device abuse.
Let us recall that last month, the websites of Karlovačka and Samoborska banks were attacked, and the targets also included the websites of President Ivo Josipović and the Croatian Bishops’ Conference. A similar message was left then: ‘You have stolen from the people for long enough. Soon, the other banks will fall.’
Prior to that, their targets included the websites of President Ivo Josipović, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Croatian Bishops’ Conference, and Torcida.
