When Slovenian journalists decided to find out whether their politicians know what this term actually means, they came across interesting responses. Individuals from the political sphere who commented daily on the fiscal policy of their country could not explain what the word fiscal means. Their responses usually began with: ‘In my opinion, fiscal means…’
Fiscal policy deals with the ways of collecting money into the state treasury and its expenditure. It consists of tax policy and public spending. The adjective ‘fiscal’ refers to what relates to the state treasury and the state as the owner of property rights, it was explained.
