The Financial Agency (Fina) has received a total of 1,009 proposals for initiating pre-bankruptcy settlement procedures by 11:00 today.
The total amount of liabilities of the companies to which the proposals for initiating pre-bankruptcy settlement procedures relate is 18.32 billion kuna, and the number of employees in those companies is 14,678, according to data from Fina.
Today marks the deadline for submitting proposals for initiating pre-bankruptcy settlement procedures for debtors who met the conditions for initiating the procedure at the moment the Law on Financial Operations and Pre-Bankruptcy Settlement came into force on October 1 of this year.
To ensure that entrepreneurs who already meet the legal conditions for initiating the procedure have enough time to submit their requests to the offices in Fina’s regional centers, where these proposals are submitted, the offices were exceptionally open on Saturday, December 29, until 13:00, and Fina’s branches are also open today, mostly until 13:00 or until 17:00.
Pre-bankruptcy settlements have already been requested by, for example, Dalekovod, Magma, Vjesnik Tiskara, Varteks, Tankerkomerc, Dioki, Spačva, and according to today’s announcements on the Zagreb Stock Exchange, this has also been requested by Hoteli Medena, Elektrometal from Bjelovar, and Getehnika-Inženjering owned by the IGH Institute.
According to estimates prior to the adoption of the law, more than 55,000 insolvent or illiquid entrepreneurs met the conditions for opening pre-bankruptcy settlement procedures on the day the law came into force, i.e., October 1.
