Industrial Product Stocks Down 11.5 Percent

Total stocks of finished industrial products in Croatia at the end of November were 1 percent higher compared to the end of October, while they decreased by 11.5 percent compared to the end of November last year, reported the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

When observed by areas of the national classification of activities, stocks of finished industrial products at the end of November this year compared to the previous month decreased by 5.9 percent in mining and quarrying, while they increased by 1.3 percent in manufacturing.

On an annual basis, compared to November last year, stocks in mining and quarrying were down 16.8 percent in November this year, and in manufacturing by 11.4 percent.

Among the 23 different activities within the manufacturing industry, 13 recorded a decrease in November, while 11 saw an increase in stocks.

Almost all activities with a significant share in manufacturing, compared to November last year, recorded a decrease in stocks of finished industrial products.

Thus, in the production of food products, which has the largest share of over 16 percent, stocks decreased by 4.5 percent. In the production of other non-metallic mineral products, stocks in November this year compared to the same month last year fell by 14.8 percent, in beverage production by 10.4 percent, and in the production of chemicals and chemical products by 6.3 percent.

The production of refined petroleum products (share of 5.83 percent) recorded an increase in stocks on an annual basis, by 12.7 percent.

The total number of employees in Croatian industry in November this year was 0.9 percent lower than in October, while it decreased by 5.8 percent compared to November last year, reported the Croatian Bureau of Statistics (DZS).

Total labor productivity in industry from the beginning of January to the end of November this year compared to the same period last year decreased by 1.1 percent, according to DZS data.

Data on the movement of the number of employees in industry by main industrial groupings show that on a monthly basis, in November compared to October, the number of employees decreased the most in the production of capital goods and durable goods for general consumption, by 1.1 percent.

In the production of non-durable goods for general consumption, the number of employees on a monthly basis in November decreased by 0.9 percent, in the production of intermediate goods by 0.7 percent, and in energy production by 0.3 percent.

On an annual basis, the number of employees in the production of intermediate goods fell the most, by 7.9 percent. In the production of non-durable goods for general consumption, the number of employees was lower by 6.6 percent in November on an annual basis, in energy production by 4.3 percent, in the production of durable goods for general consumption by 3.9 percent, and in the production of capital goods by 2.6 percent.

Data on the movement of employees in industry by activities show that on a monthly basis, the number of employees in mining and quarrying in November was lower by 2.5 percent, in manufacturing it decreased by 0.8 percent, and in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning by 0.1 percent.

On an annual basis, the number of employees in mining and quarrying is lower by 7.8 percent, in manufacturing by 6 percent, and in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning by 2.3 percent.

Among the activities within the manufacturing industry that have the largest share of the total number of employees, the number of employees in the production of food products (share of 15.4 percent) in November this year compared to the same month last year decreased by 3.6 percent, and in clothing production (share of 8.1 percent) by as much as 14 percent.

The number of employees in the production of finished metal products increased simultaneously by 0.3 percent, and in the production of other means of transport by 2.9 percent.

DZS data also show that labor productivity in the manufacturing industry from the beginning of January to the end of November this year compared to the same period last year decreased by 0.4 percent, in the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning labor productivity decreased by 1.1 percent, and in mining and quarrying by 12.1 percent.
