Mate Rimac sold the first example of the fastest electric car

The first example of the fastest electric car in the world, ‘Concept One’, will be delivered to a customer in Spain in two weeks, after which production will commence, announced last night in HTV’s Dnevnik 3 the Croatian innovator who designed the car, Mate Rimac.

Each car is made to order, Rimac said, adding that they plan to produce 15 to 20 per year.

So far, we have received several pre-orders, and the first car is going to Spain, Rimac said, who did not want to reveal the name of the customer, explaining that due to the large amount, the buyer decides whether to disclose it. He explained that the complete car is created in their factory in Sveti Nedelja.

The automotive business, he added, is just one segment of their work as they are also involved in developing propulsion system technology for other manufacturers, such as engines and batteries.

– The automotive business is quite challenging, requiring large investments, and that is why we decided on more expensive models and smaller series as they require less investment – said the young innovator. Their goal, he added, is to increase production with new lower-priced models every two to three years.

Concept One, designed three years ago, attracted significant attention last September at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and Bloomberg ranked it among the best that marked 2012. It is powered by a 1,000-horsepower engine, reaching speeds of up to 305 kilometers per hour, achieving a speed of 100 kilometers per hour in just 2.8 seconds. With a single battery charge, it can travel 600 kilometers.
