Rajko Ostojić is the SDP candidate for the Mayor of Zagreb, as unanimously decided by the City Committee of the party last night, accepting the decision of the SDP Presidency, which suggested to the Zagreb organization last week that instead of Davor Bernardić, the candidate should be Ostojić.
After a two-hour meeting, the City Committee accepted the decision of the party leadership at the proposal of its president Bernardić, so Ostojić, the current Minister of Health, will enter the race for the mayor of the capital city in the local elections in May next year.
Zagreb has stagnated in recent years and we will change that in May next year, said Rajko Ostojić tonight after being confirmed by the SDP City Committee as the candidate for the Mayor of Zagreb in next year’s local elections.
“Zagreb has stagnated in recent years, Zagreb is regressing, there are 41,000 unemployed in the City of Zagreb. These are facts and they need to be changed,” Ostojić stated to reporters in front of the SDP headquarters.
He thanked all the members of the City Committee for their trust, or the opportunity to join the team that he is convinced will improve the quality of life in the capital through a series of projects and programs that the SDP started working on two years ago.
– This is the Strategy for the Development of the City of Zagreb until 2020 with a series of action plans on how to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Zagreb. This is the key to everything – quality of life, which means housing, jobs, travel, culture, sports – he emphasized.
– In recent years, Zagreb has regressed, Zagreb has stagnated and we simply must change that and we will change that in May next year – concluded Ostojić.
