Assistant Minister of Veterans’ Affairs Dinko Mikulić has been placed in one-month investigative detention due to the risk of influencing witnesses, reports Jutarnji list.
USKOK proposed that he be detained also due to the risk of reoffending, but the investigating judge rejected this after Mikulić stated that he was ready to resign.
Let us recall, Mikulić is suspected of having requested a total of 250,000 euros in bribes from the director and owner of the Varaždin construction company Stanoing.
USKOK accuses him of having solicited bribes from the heads and owners of Varaždin’s Stanoing from 2005 until December of this year, and in return, he assisted them in having their company selected as the seller of apartments for veterans in the Varaždin area, which, the Prosecutor’s Office emphasizes, was contrary to actual needs and against the prescribed conditions of the public call.
